Sawnee EMC is constantly asking its members, “What can we do to serve you better?” Each year, they get thousands of very interesting responses; most of which provide good insight as to what changes the membership would like to see.
Throughout 2014, the number one (#1) response has been that the cooperative members disliked the convenience fee that was being assessed for “on demand” credit card and debit card payments; ones that are not set up to be paid “automatically” each month. While the amount of the convenience fee has been reduced by 50% over the years, this issue still seemed to be a point of contention for the majority of members.
There is good news with regard to the convenience fee. After an internal review was conducted and a financial analysis was thoroughly reviewed by the staff, Sawnee EMC’s Board of Directors has approved for the fee to be discontinued as of January 1, 2015. “This decision will make a lot of members very happy,” states Blake House, Vice President of Member Services.
Exceeding the member’s needs is priority number one (1) for Sawnee and obviously, the first step towards accomplishing this goal is simply to listen to the feedback of the members.
