CUMMING, GA - January 7, 2015

Membership Corporation (Sawnee EMC) is deploying a new payment option for its members called “e-Check”. The ability to pay by e-Check, is now available whether a member pays online or through any of Sawnee EMC’s other payment portals.

“We heard from several of our members in a recent survey that they wanted the ability to pay online with an e-Check” states Blake House, Vice President of Member Service for Sawnee. “After looking into it, we saw this as an easy opportunity to meet a need; our staff jumped right on it because serving our members is job #1 around here” he adds.

E-Checks simplify the check-writing process and are extremely efficient. An e-Check works the same as a traditional “paper” check from a bank, credit union or other financial institution, except with an e-Check, the payment posts to the member’s account much quicker. Also, since there is no actual paper check being mailed, the likelihood of forgery, fraud, and/or identity theft involving the check is virtually eliminated.

Additionally, the absence of printed paper is certainly good for the environment. Ginny Ellis, Sawnee’s Chief Financial Officer, states that “All of our payment options, including e-Check, are safe and secure; and we have invested in state of the art encryption and protection software as an added layer of protection for our members.”

Sawnee members will not incur any fees to utilize this payment option. Sawnee EMC had announced earlier this year that effective January 1, 2015, all convenience fees for on demand electronic payments had been eliminated, which was received with great thanks.
